Drunk driver arrested going wrong-way on Hwy 46

An alleged drunk driver was arrested after going the wrong-way on Highway 46 east of Paso Robles near Whitley Gardens.

Multiple 911 calls from passing motorists led California Highway Patrol officers to Lorenzo Gonzalez Ortega, the adult male who officials say was traveling east in the westbound lanes of the highway.

Ortega was stopped in the number-1 lane with his headlights off, according to the CHP. He was arrested just after midnight Sunday for suspicion of DUI, driving with a suspended license and multiple warrants.

No other vehicles were involved during this dangerous wrong-way driver arrest.
