Police arrest man after motorcycle chase through Santa Maria

A man accused of leading Santa Maria police on a chase was taken into custody Saturday night.

Officers say they tried to pull over a motorcycle for a traffic violation around 8:22 p.m.

The rider led officers on a high- speed chase before abandoning his motorcycle behind the Buckboard Motel.

Officers say the suspect, 35-year-old John Mayberry, ran into a motel room where he was ultimately arrested without incident.

According to police, Mayberry had a felony warrant out of San Luis Obispo County.

He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on the warrant and felony evading arrest.
