Man arrested after pursuit on Hwy 101 in San Luis Obispo

A man was arrested after pursuit on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo Monday.

San Luis Obispo California Highway Patrol started the pursuit after seeing a silver Hyundai driving on the wrong side of the road on Highway 101 southbound.

The Hyundai eventually got onto the right side of the road before CHP officers began a pursuit of the vehicle.

A chase began on 101 northbound at varying speeds. The driver exited off Monterey before making it back onto Highway 101 northbound.

The Hyundai then made a U-turn on the highway onto Highway 101 southbound.

CHP canceled pursuit of the vehicle when they exited off the highway.

The driver crashed near Olive and Santa Rosa streets in the city.

Police say the man did not cooperate with law enforcement which led to a brief standoff.

Law enforcement was eventually able to take him into custody.
