Firefighters respond to vegetation fire near Buellton neighborhood

Firefighters responded to a report of a vegetation fire burning near a Buellton neighborhood Monday afternoon.

The fire was sparked by a downed power line just before 2 p.m. near the intersection of Thumbelina Drive and Highway 246.

According to the California Highway Patrol online incident log, the fire began in a riverbed but spread towards the residential neighborhood.

The fire has burned about two acres according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Two helicopters and tankers were called to respond. Structures were threatened by the fire.

By 3:30 p.m., forward progress on the fire had been stopped at three acres.

Fire crews are on scene, and we will have more updates as we learn more.
