Hobby Lobby submits plans to move into old Toys R Us building in Santa Maria

Arts and crafts store Hobby Lobby has submitted paperwork to move into the old Toys “R” Us building in Santa Maria.

The building, which is located at 1411 S Bradley Rd., has been left vacant since Toys “R” Us shuttered the doors on all their locations nationwide.

The craft store will be setting up shop in an area left mostly vacant since Costco moved to its new location. Hobby Lobby submitted plans for tenant improvenets at the 45,000-square-foot steel building.

City of Santa Maria Public Information Manager Mark van de Kamp says the company submitted the plans in early April and the store could open later this year. Ultimately, a timeline for the store to open is up to Hobby Lobby to decide.
