Isaac Stone wins Channel League Individual Championship in boys golf

Isaac Stone grabbed the lead early in round two and pulled away for a comfortable six shot victory as the Santa Barbara High School senior golfer won the Channel League Individual Championship.

Stone was the only golfer to finish the 36-hole tournament under par as he fired a 1-under par 139 at the Santa Barbara Golf Club.

Dos Pueblos’ John Givans was second at 5-over par and San Marcos’ Blake Bornand came in third with a two-day score of 6-over par.

Santa Barbara’s Preson Foy claimed fourth place at 9-over par and DP freshman Ruben Mendoza came in fifth as the top five golfers earned first-team All-Channel League.

Those five players along with the sixth place finisher, Santa Barbara’s Conner Lambe advance to next week’s CIF-SS tournament.
