Law enforcement raids Grover Beach cannabis shop

UPDATE: 6:11 P.M. 3/28/2019

At around 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies found what they say is the largest marijuana growing operation that they have investigated since the team formed in June of last year.

Hundreds of thousands of illegal plants and thousands of pounds of processed marijuana ready for sale were found during the investigation.

Officials say this case involves the issue of fraudulent licensing and the black-market distribution of marijuana.

The sheriff’s office says this incident is a public safety concern because it doesn’t ensure the proper testing and licensing of the cannabis.

This investigation is still ongoing.

Check back for more details as they emerge.

Law enforcement from multiple agencies served a search warrant at a Grover Beach marijuana dispensary Thursday morning.

The warrants were served at 805 Beach Breaks at 1053 Highland Way, one of the first legal dispensaries to be given the green light in the city.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and Santa Maria Police Department.

The exact nature and reason for the raid is unclear at this time.

Check back later for details.
