Oxnard man arrested after hitting victim with car during domestic dispute
An Oxnard man was arrested after he backed into a victim with his car during a domestic dispute Thursday night.
According to the Ventura Police Department, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the parking lot of the Tommy’s Hamburgers restaurant in the 5600 block of Valentine Road just after 8:00 p.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, they learned the suspect, 44-year-old Andrew Chavez used his car to hit the victim before fleeing the scene.
The victim refused medical treatment, police said.
Officers were able to track Chavez down at his home in Oxnard, but Chavez fled in his truck and led police on a pursuit until he pulled into a gas station in the 2200 block of Gonzelez Road. Chaves briefly resisted arrest, but was finally detained, police said.
Chavez was arrested for felony domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, and a misdemeanor evading and resisting arrest.
