Dons can’t hold late lead and fall in overtime in State Playoffs

Santa Barbara looked like it was going to reach the 3rd round of the CIF State boys basketball playoffs for the first time since 1991.

The Dons led 52-46 with 1:47 remaining at Crescenta Valley but could manage just one more point the rest of the way in regulation and the Falcons forced overtime at 53.

Santa Barbara ran out of gas and had three players foul out before the game ended in a 71-59 overtime loss in a second round Division 3 contest.

Bryce Warrecker scored 16 points and Stephen Davis added 14 as the Dons wrap up the year 29-5.

They were undefeated in the Channel League, a CIF Southern Section Division 3A semifinalist and they had a CIF State Playoff victory.
