Suspect of bank robberies in Grover Beach and L.A. County charged by federal grand jury

A man suspected of bank robberies in Grover Beach and L.A. County was charged by a federal Grand Jury on Wednesday.

A criminal complaint filed in the United States District Court states that Dino Tabar Trias, 44, entered a Rabobank at 899 West Grand Avenue in Grover Beach on Dec. 7 and brandished a black handgun which he had concealed in his waistband while demanding cash from a teller.

The complaint also states that Trias entered a Comerica Bank in Long Beach on Jan. 22. and approached another teller. Trias also brandished a weapon in this robbery while demanding cash before fleeing the bank.

A joint investigation by agents and detectives allowed them to identify Trias as the suspect in both cases.

Trias was taken into federal custody on February 13. He had already been in custody since Jan. 31 for an unrelated matter in Kern County.

Authorities say Trias is a transient who has ties to both Bakersfield and San Francisco.

After Trias was arrested on suspicion of bank robbery, Trias was afforded an initial appearance in the United States District Court in Los Angeles and was sent back into federal custody.

He is due back in federal court in Los Angeles for an arraignment on Tuesday.

This investigation was conducted by the Grover Beach Police Department along with the Long Beach Police Department and the FBI.

Officials say the California Highway Patrol, the Pismo Beach Police Department, the Bakersfield Police Department, and the San Jose Police Department all assisted considerably in the investigation.
