SLO sheriff’s deputies investigating Oceano homicide

[Update 1/25/2019 2:30 p.m.]

The victim in a homicide investigation in Oceano has been identified, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday deputies were called to the 1400 block of Strand Way to perform a welfare check on the resident.

Once inside deputies said they found the body of 90-year-old Lawrence Albert Bross of Oceano.

The sheriff’s office said it is conducting an active homicide investigation.

An autopsy is being performed today to try and help determine a cause of death.

(Update 5:16 p.m.) The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is now calling the suspicious death in Oceano a homicide.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

Deputies say the victim’s name has not been released because they are still notifying his family.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident.

There’s no word on a suspect right now, but detectives say there is no threat to the public.

Detectives in Oceano are investigating a suspicious death in the 1400 block of Strand Way in Oceano, according to Tony Cippola with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to perform a welfare check around 9:45 a.m. Inside the home, they found the body of a man and determined the circumstances surrounding the death were suspicious.

Detectives are on scene conducting a full-scale investigation and collecting evidence.
