Missing Atascadero father and son located safely

UPDATE 5:15 p.m.:

The Atascadero Police Department say Cody Parrott and his son were both located safely near the small town of Independence in Inyo County just before 4 p.m.

California Highway Patrol saw a vehicle matching the description and attempted to do a traffic stop. Parrott initially refused to stop but eventually pulled over and was arrested. His son is in the care of CHP and they are working on reuniting him with his family.

Parrott could face charges for evading police and child endangerment.

According to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s office, Cody and his son have been located. No other information is available at this time.

UPDATE:

Police say they believe Parrott and his son are headed east toward the Tehachapi area. The focus of the investigation is shifting to Kern County and potentially as far as Nevada.

A father took his 4-year-old son from their home in the middle of the night Thursday after acting irrationally and have not been seen or heard from since, according to Atascadero police.

Police say 31-year-old, Cody Parrott is a white male, 5’10” and 170 lbs. He has short blonde hair, blue eyes, and a beard.

The missing child is 3’6″ tall, 35 lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes, last seen wearing gray, moose pattern pajamas.

They may be traveling in a 2013 black VW Passat with California license plate number 7-B-Z-B-9-7-5. The car has damage to the rear bumper on the right side.
