Evacuation orders may be issued ahead of Friday night’s storm in Santa Barbara County

The Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management has advised that some evacuation orders may be put in place in burn scar areas ahead of Friday’s storm.

Areas below the Sherpa, Whittier and Thomas Burn Areas are now under a weather advisory due to the storm forecasted for late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

If evacuation warnings are determined to be necessary, they will be issued on Friday.

County officials want all residents to remain alert and prepare so they can be ready to leave. Updates will be provided on Thursday.

San Luis Obispo County

Residents in San Luis Obispo County in low lying areas prone to flooding are also advised to take precautions ahead of the storm. Precautions include filling sand bags and clearing storm drains and gutters of debris.

The Salinas Riverbed is considered extremely dangerous and all residents are advised to avoid the riverbed.
