Green Bay Packers sign Lompoc High School grad Lavon Coleman to active roster

The Green Bay Packers have signed running back and Lompoc High School grad Lavon Coleman to the team’s active roster.

Coleman was on Green Bay’s practice squad. He will back up Packers starter Jamaal Williams during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, meaning Coleman will likely make his regular season NFL debut.

Coleman starred for the Lompoc Braves football team, rushing for 3,577 yards and 44 touchdowns between 2010 and 2013.

Coleman went on to play college football at Washington, where he rushed for 2,000 career yards and set a school record with 7.5 yards per carry.

The Houston Texans signed Coleman as an undrafted free agent in May and he spent this year’s preseason with the team. The Texans waived Coleman in September.

After a brief stint on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad, the Packers signed Coleman to their practice squad in October.
