Gang member arrested with loaded firearm in Oxnard

Police arrested a known Oxnard gang member who had a loaded firearm in his vehicle Friday night in Oxnard.

Officers from the Oxnard Police Special Enforcement Unit found a known Lemonwood gang member driving a vehicle in the 2000 block of Napolean Ave around 10:20 p.m.

Police identified the gang member as 26-year old Rafael Aguilar. During the search of Aguilar’s vehicle, police found a loaded firearm along with narcotics and additional ammunition. Police say Aguilar resisted arrest during the encounter. The firearm was found to be stolen out of Ojai, according to police.

Aguilar has been charged with possession of a concealed and loaded firearm, possession of stolen property, possession of narcotics with a firearm, and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail.
