Abandoned house in Santa Barbara goes up in flames over the weekend
An abandoned house on Santa Barbara Street in the City of Santa Barbara caught on fire over the weekend.
The Santa Barbara City Fire Department says they received a call reporting the fire at 425 Santa Barbara Street just after 7:50 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, firefighters didn’t find anyone inside the house and were able to contain it within 15 minutes.
Eyewitnesses say they could see flames from the Smart & Final grocery store on Gutierrez Street. City Fire estimates damages to be about $50-75,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
