Violent argument leads to Oxnard man’s death

UPDATE

One man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Oxnard Wednesday morning.

It happened at about 6:30 a.m. at a gas station parking lot located at 490 South Victoria Avenue. When police officers arrived, they found the victim, a 24-year-old Hispanic man from Oxnard, lying in the driveway of the gas station. Next to him was a red colored sedan with significant front-end damage.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and later died from his injuries. Police are investigating the incident as a “violent altercation” between two men.

Although details were very limited, investigators say the victim and a 31-year-old Hispanic man were involved in a heated argument that eventually led to the victim’s death. The suspect was located by police inside a black SUV in the parking lot next to the crime scene.

They say a replica firearm was discovered near the scene where the argument took place. The motive or cause of the argument is still being investigated.

The victim’s identity has not been released. No arrests have been made at this time and police are not searching for additional suspects, investigators said.

Traffic was impacted for several hours while officials investigated the incident.

Oxnard Police are investigating an incident on Fifth Street and Victoria Avenue. The northbound lanes of Victoria Avenue are highly impacted due to the traffic.

Authorities advise using alternate routes during your morning commute.
