Two people escape overnight RV fire near Los Alamos

Two people lost their RV early Monday morning after it burned down on the side of the freeway near Los Alamos.

The two people were inside the RV when it caught on fire at about 1 a.m. on northbound U.S. Highway 101, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni. However, both escaped the RV unscathed.

The fire spread to nearby brush, which then sparked a brush fire that was quickly extinguished by responding firefighters.

The northbound side of U.S. 101 was temporarily shut down.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
