Truck fire shuts down Highway 101 in Ventura

UPDATE:

The Ventura City Fire reports that when they arrived on scene they found a pickup truck and trailer overturned on the freeway and the trailer on fire near the Johnson Drive exit in Ventura.

Two victims were reported to be trapped inside the truck but upon arrival, crews found them out of the vehicle. The victims were assessed and one was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. The other victim refused treatment.

Fire crews knocked the fire down within about 10 minutes of arrival.

The freeway was shut down for approximately 20 minutes due to heavy smoke and debris.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a vehicle fire that happened on Highway 101 in Ventura Sunday afternoon.

CHP received a call around 11:29 a.m. of a traffic collision near the Johnson Drive exit.

Upon arrival, crews found a single truck towing a trailer. The trailer was fully engulfed in flames and on its side. According to CHP the driver and passengers got out of the vehicle safely.

The cause of the fire and rollover is currently under investigation.
