Flash Flood Warning issued across Thomas Fire burn area in south Santa Barbara County

The Flash Flood Warning expired at 6:45 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the Thomas Fire burn area and adjacent south coast in Santa Barbara County until 6:45 a.m.

Some locations that will experience flooding in and around the Thomas burn area include, Montecito, Carpinteria, Summerland.

At 2:37 a.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain on the western edge of the Thomas Fire burn area. Rainfall rates were meeting the 30 minute and one hour U.S. Geological Survey thresholds of 0.30 and 0.50 inches respectively. Flash flooding and mud and debris flows are expected to begin shortly on the western edge and then spread eastward.
