Ventura police chase down suspected prowler

A man is facing several charges after he was arrested in Ventura Wednesday morning.

According to the Ventura Police Department, officers responded to a call just after 5:30 a.m. from a resident on the 1100 block of Bath Lane reporting that a man wearing a beanie, mask, and hooded sweatshirt was breaking into a neighbor’s parked vehicle.

Officers later found 38-year-old Dylan Merry who matched the description of the suspect. When officers approached Merry, he fled on foot leading to a short chase before officers arrested him a block away as he tried to climb a fence of a residence on Montauk Lane, police said.

During a search, officers also found Merry was in possession of a controlled substance.

He was taken to the Ventura County Jail and booked on prowling, vehicle tampering, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

No one was injured as a result of this incident. According to police, Merry is a vagrant.
