Willem Dafoe to receive the Cinema Vanguard Award at 2018 SBIFF

Willem Dafoe will be honored with the 2018 Cinema Vanguard Award at the 33rd Santa Barbara International Film Festival for his role in Sean Baker’s “The Florida Project”, which opened in October 2017 to critical acclaim.

The Cinema Vanguard Award recognizes actors who have forged their own path – taking artistic risks and making a significant and unique contribution to cinema.

Previous honorees include Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams, Rooney Mara, Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, Amy Adams, Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo, Nicole Kidman, Christoph Waltz, Vera Farmiga, Stanley Tucci, Peter Sarsgaard, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Ryan Gosling.

The event will be held at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 8:00 p.m.
