Inmate recaptured after walking away from Ventura hospital

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office recaptured an inmate that walked away from the hospital while receiving treatment Saturday morning.

Sarah Beth Murphy McComack was transported to Ventura County Medical Center at around 10 a.m. after showing symptoms of a medical emergency.

Murphy McComack was being held at Todd Road Jail Facility in Santa Paula facing possible charges of grand theft, possession of burglar tools, and providing false identification to officers. McComack had been in custody since Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies say Murphy McComack asked to use the restroom and then walked away from the emergency room before a uniformed deputy had arrived at the hospital.

Just after 11 a.m., Ventura police officers located Murphy McComack and arrested her without incident. She now faces additional charges for escape from custody.
