Fines double during Halloween in San Luis Obispo

The city of San Luis Obispo will double fines for some municipal violations on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A Halloween Safety Enhancement Zone will be put in place as soon as the clock strikes 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday and will remain in place until 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Fines are doubled for the following violations: open container, noise violation, deadly and dangerous weapon, unruly gatherings, social host and urination in public.

The police department put additional officers in place for the weekend prior to Halloween to respond to monitor downtown as well as parties in the city. Cal Poly University Police are also assisting.
