Oxnard man killed in head-on collision with semi-truck

A 20-year-old Oxnard man was killed after a collision with a semi-truck Monday morning on the 1900 block of Eastman Avenue.

At around 9:30 a.m., the man was driving a 2014 Ford Fiesta when he collided head-on with a semi-truck pulling a trailer.

Police say it appears the Fiesta was driving westbound on Eastman Avenue at a high rate of speed when the vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into the semi.

The driver of the Fiesta was transported to the hospital but later died from his injuries. The semi driver was also taken to the hospital but was later released after receiving treatment.

It is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash but speed is considered to be a factor.

The crash is under investigation.
