Driver in fatal crash in Ventura arrested, accused of DUI

An Oxnard woman was arrested Thursday after police issued a warrant for her arrest in connection to a fatal crash that took place earlier this year.

Dalana Arreola, 21, of Oxnard was the driver of a vehicle that crashed near the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Telephone Road on February 19.

Arreola was seriously injured in the crash and her passenger, a 21-year-old man, was found trapped and unconscious in the front seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arreola was transported to the hospital in critical condition but ultimately survived.

On Tuesday, the Ventura Police Department concluded their investigation into the crash and requested an arrest warrant for Arreola. On Thursday she turned herself in and was booked into the Ventura County Jail.

Arreola is accused of being intoxicated during the crash. She faces charges for Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated.
