Stand Down offers homeless veterans a home for the weekend

Volunteers tried to make homeless veterans feel at home during the annual Ventura County Stand Down on Saturday.

They made the California National Guard Armory look like a Mash unit.

Veterans from Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties were treated to hot showers, haircuts, dental and health care, new clothing and legal services.

The tent city also had AA meetings.

Veterans said they hoped to find old friends at the event.

Volunteers served up hot meals and musicians performed in the evening.

The 25th annual event wraps up on Sunday.
