Ventura fire crews put out fire at homeless encampment

Ventura firefighters extinguished a vegetation fire that broke out in a river bottom near a homeless encampment Saturday morning.

Crews from Ventura County and Ventura city fire departments were able to put out the fire in about an hour and a half.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no witnesses.

Anyone with information about the cause of the fire is asked to contact the Ventura Fire Department at (805) 339-4300.
