Body of missing Pasadena boy found near Cachuma Lake

The body of missing 5-year-old Aramazd Andressian Jr. was found near Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara County, according to investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Detectives returned to Cachuma Lake on June 30 based on recent evidence and new leads they collected in the case and located the remains of the Pasadena boy.

The boy’s body was retrieved from Cachuma early Saturday morning and transported to Los Angeles via helicopter.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department held a press conference Saturday at 1 p.m. The county coroner said a death investigation would be conducted within the next few days.

The father, 35-year-old Aramazd Andressian Sr., was arrested by authorities on June 23 in Las Vegas and charged with the murder of his son.

During a June 26 press conference, investigators said Andressian Sr. planned to flee the country and that his attitude and socializing in Las Vegas was unbecoming of a grieving parent.

Aramazd Jr. was last seen with his father leaving Disneyland at 1 a.m. on April 20. Investigators believe the crime occurred sometime between 1 a.m. and when the father arrived at Cachuma Lake several hours later.

Andressian Sr. was located the following day, unconscious at a South Pasadena park claiming he had no knowledge of the whereabouts of his 5-year-old son.

Police say Andressian Sr. has not cooperated with investigators. The boy’s mother had come to Santa Barbara and plead for the safe return of her son.

Andressian Sr. faces 25 years to life in a state prison if convicted.

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley is in contact with the Los Angeles District Attornye Jackie Lacey.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has not made any additional information available at this time.

Andressian Sr.’s attorney met with his client in jail and made a statement Saturday afternoon in Beverley Hills. He said his client will be arraigned Monday and plans to make plea of not guilty.
