Nipomo woman’s death ruled a homicide

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office released new information on the death of a Nipomo woman that occurred on May 31 in the 600 block of Pomeroy Road.

The victim was identified as Paulina Ramirez-Diaz, 24. Authorities said she was found dead inside a home on Pomeroy Road with a stab wound to her neck.

At the time, the Sheriff’s Office was calling this incident a “suspicious death investigation” but have now confirmed this is a homicide.

Authorities arrested 24-year-old Nipomo resident Julio Cesar Alonso and charged him with Ramirez-Diaz’s death.

Alonso lived at the home with the victim and is believe to be Ramirez-Diaz’s boyfriend. During the investigation, detectives gathered enough evidence to charge Alonso with a single count of murder.

Alonso was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office said there are no additional suspects in this case.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information regarding this homicide is asked to contact the SLO County Sheriff’s Detective Division at 805-781-4500.
