Buena remains undefeated as they punch their ticket to CIF division 4 championship game

Brooke Yanez pitched a gem and homered as Buena continued their quest to become Ventura County’s first-ever unbeaten CIF softball champion.

The Bulldogs broke a scoreless tie with five runs in the sixth inning as they beat St. Joseph of Lakewood 5-0 in a CIF-SS division 4 semifinal game.

Yanez hit a three-run homer in that sixth inning and then finished off the top of the 7th with a complete game one-hit shutout on the mound. She struck out 12 batters.

Buena will face fellow Channel League school San Marcos in the championship game that will be played Friday or Saturday in Irvine. The CIF will announce the time and date on Wednesday. Buena is 3-0 against San Marcos this year.

Buena is now 26-0-1 on the season.
