County animal shelters waive fees

Adoption fees at Santa Barbara County’s three animal shelters were waived Saturday after a generous donation.

The shelters in Santa Barbara, Lompoc, and Santa Maria were all busy with people looking for their next pet. “It’s going to help us make room for those dogs that we need to give a little bit more time and resources to as well as the influx of dogs and cats and rabbits we know are going to be coming as we enter in to the summer months,” says Stacy Silva with animal services.

This is peak dog and cat mating season. Clearing out the shelters ahead of the summer months is meant to give shelters time to prepare for the busy summer months.
