No injuries in auto shop fire near Lompoc

Santa Barbara County Fire and Lompoc City Fire departments are working to salvage a car repair shop in the Mission Hills area near Lompoc and Vandeberg Village.

Around 4 p.m. Friday firefighters were sent to Randy’s Auto Shop fully engulfed in flames and smoke.

This is near the Burton Mesa and Rucker Road intersection. The fire was knocked down in twenty-five minutes.

A County Fire spokesperson said the fire may have started in a store room adjacent to the car repair bays. The business was closed when the fire broke out.

A second alarm fire was called for additional resources. Twenty-five firefighters were on scene to help extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
