Dog rescued from More Mesa cliffside

Firefighters from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department rescued an 11-month-old Lab/Pitbull mix from the cliffside near More Mesa Friday afternoon.

The dog apparently got too closed to the ledge when it fell 50 feet down the cliff toward the beach. The dog landed on a small ledge and was unable to climb back up.

At around 2:45 p.m., firefighters responded to the scene and set up a rope system to rappel down to the stuck pup.

A firefighter was lowered to the dog, put the dog in a harness and returned to the top of the cliff.

The dog was uninjured and returned to the owner.
