Black Fur Day helped people save on pet adoptions in Santa Barbara, Lompoc and Santa Maria

Pet lovers lined up to take advantage of pet adoption savings on the first ever Black Fur Day Friday at Santa Barbara County Animal Services in Santa Barbara, Lompoc and Santa Maria.

Some people camped out for ‘cuddle buster’ deals.

Any pet with black fur or even black noses were adopted for free with half off licensing fees.

That’s a savings of about $100.

A total of 80 pets were adopted including 26 dogs, 50 cats, 3 rabbits and an unspecified pet.

Now organizers are gearing up for a Dear Santa holiday campaign that runs from Dec. 15-24.

Angela Walters Rockwell, the executive director of Animal Shelter Assistance Program known as ASAP said there will be lots of deals.

“$25 dollars for an adult cat and $75 for two kittens, you won’t find a better deal in town,” said Rockwell.

They are also selling pet Christmas and holiday cards as a fundraiser.
