Multi-car pileup snarls evening commute through Summerland

A multi-car wreck on U.S. Highway 101 near Summerland impacted Tuesday evening’s commute when it closed down northbound lanes.

Witnesses on scene say as many as six cars were involved in the crash, which occurred shortly after 6 p.m. just north of the Sheffield Drive on ramp.

Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported. The freeway lanes are expected to be closed to allow crews to cleanup the scene.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
