Sprouts Farmers Market Opens In Goleta

A new grocery store just opened up in Goleta. Sprouts Farmers Market opened its doors at 7 a.m. Wednesday. They are taking over the old Vons that was most recently a Haggen.

The grand opening event featured special giveaways including free samples, dollar deals and a special 20% off coupon for the first 200 shoppers in line.

Shopper Laura Lum says, “I am so excited for Sprouts to be open I shop at the one in Arizona where my daughter lives. And we have lived in our home here for since 1961 and I have been shopping at whatever store has ever been here so it’s been really hard not having anything here for almost a year now.”

Store manager Joey Castanon says, “some of our department heads in management team we’re a part of the thing that went down from Vons to Haggen and then trying to find work again and being able to give those people quality people who love doing this job back into the store and being able to give them the satisfaction of knowing they are going to have a job for a long time. We are not here to set up and go, we are here to stay.”

Sprouts Farmers Market will also be giving back to the community.

The grocery store says it will be donating all unsold and edible but not marketable groceries to the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County.
