McNish Classic Yacht Race Won By Dennis Conner

Legendary America’s Cup winner Dennis Conner just won his weight in champaign by winning the 39th McNish Classic Yacht Race.

Conner and his crew sailed a boat named Splender from San Diego.

The 17 mile race course off the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard is hosted by the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club.

It is named after Dick McNish who is the captain of ‘Cheerio II,” an all wooden yawl once owned by actor Errol Flynn.”

“I didn’t think it would last 39 years,” said McNish.

Other prizes are given out for boats winning their category and for most pristine boat.
