Flames Engulf Trees and Brush on Santa Barbara’s Westside

LATEST UPDATE

[9:38 p.m. PDT] The fire is out and firefighters are putting out hot spots. No structures were involved, even though the original call was a structure fire response. A tree caught fire and burned surrounding brush between several homes. Again, no structures were damaged.

ORIGINAL STORY

The fire broke out about 8:45 p.m. at Wentworth Avenue and West Cota.

Santa Barbara City firefighters responded as smoke was blown toward the Santa Barbara City College campus.

Firefighters and fire equipment are blocking the roads in the residential neighborhood along the southbound lanes of the 101 freeway.

Nobody was hurt and fire investigators are looking into what started the fire.
