Water Main Break Closes Part of State Street

Water gushed out of the asphalt in the 2300 block of
State Street just before noon today due to a broken water main.

Santa Barbara City Public Works crews were called in with heavy equipment to dig out a hole, find the line, and make repairs.

Service for homes in the area was shut off.

A vehicle was parked near the broken line but it did not sustain major damage.

Some of the water went over the curb as it made its way to the nearest drain.

Residents said they wished it could be captured and saved because of the current five year drought.
