Union Bank Fixes ATM And Online Problems
Union Bank customers found out they couldn’t access their money or accounts via ATMs or online overnight and for much of the day, Tuesday.
The bank that owns nearly 400 branches in California issued an apology via Twitter
Union Bank is currently owned by The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. Local branches used to be owned by Santa Barbara Bank and Trust.
A bank spokesperson said the bank was not hacked. The bank blamed a routine office update.
An official bank tweet on Twitter said, ” During routine, back office update, we experienced unanticipated delay w/ overnight processing affecting systems for online banking & ATMs.”
A customer on the Mesa in Santa Barbara said she noticed something wrong.
“I just came in and asked the teller, who is a nice friend, I said how are you today? And she said, well better now, but we sure had some problems this morning and you sure came in at just the right time,” said Carolyn Paulson.
