Thieves Strike Santa Barbara Pharmacy Stealing Valuable Drugs

Burglars broke into a local medical pharmacy and stole painkillers.

Santa Barbara police say they forced their way into SansumClinic Prescription Pharmacy on Pesetas Lane around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Sansum Clinic’s new public information officer Jill Fonte said, “From what we gather at this time, it was savvy people who knew exactly what they were doing. They acted quickly, took what they wanted, and left. “

A sign next to the door of the pharmacy warns people about surveillance cameras and video was turned over the police.

“We obviously take this very seriously, but we can’t say much more because we wouldn’t want to interfere with the investigation,” Fonte said.

Sgt. Riley Harwood would not say exactly what drugs were taken.

But Harwood said they are following leads and calls it an active investigation.
