Pursuit Suspect Leaves Trail of Chaos During Police Chase Into SLO County

A high speed chase suspect left a string of crashes which included three car collisions, one which resulted in serious injuries to the other party, as he headed into San Luis Obispo County.

Templeton CHP units were alerted to the pursuit by King City CHP on Monday . The suspect, 39-year-old Juan Carlos Landerosperez, allegedly tried to run other vehicles off the roadway as he crossed into SLO county.

Authorities say that Landerosperez continued to drive his 2002 Nissan Xterra dangerously, swerving and causing dirt and debris to be thrown into the air, before his vehicle was successfully spiked near the 10th Street over-crossing and southbound U.S. Highway 101.

Landerosperez reportedly followed orders once his vehicle came to a complete stop, but then jumped back into his car and began to rev the engine. The suspect attempted to drive off but it took multiple CHP officers to remove Landerosperez from the Xterra.

CHP says that Landerosperez began yelling that the “Demons” were coming, and they were going to “get us all.” One CHP officer received minor cuts and abrasions during the arrest, and has since received medical treatment.

Landerosperez was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, battery on a peace officer and reckless driving. He was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
