Child Involved in Early Morning Crash on Highway 166

A child and two adults were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries related to a vehicle rollover on Highway 166 just west of Spanish Ranch near the New Cuyama area.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol just after 7:30 a.m. Monday. They say a small dog was also inside the vehicle, which went down about 40 feet off the roadway and landed on its roof.

The dog appeared to be OK but one adult occupant was ejected from the car.

According to Santa Barbara County Fire Department officials, the ejected person was flown to Marian Regional Medical Center after plans to fly that person to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital were abandoned due to rough weather. It’s not clear if that person was the driver or passenger of the car.

Both, the child and second adult, were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the CHP.
