Man and His Dog Rescued From Cliff in Santa Barbara

It happened again. A man walking his Golden Retriever along the bluff edge at the Douglas Family Preserve in Santa Barbara became stranded on the cliff after his dog went over the side Monday afternoon.

Santa Barbara City Fire officials said the owner followed the dog over the side to retrieve him but was unable to go down any further or return to the top. Man and canine were about 60 feet below the top of the bluff.

Fire crews responded to the incident, which was reported at about 12:30 p.m. They secured the man and his dog to a rope and were brought back to the top. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The Santa Barbara City Fire Department would like to remind the public that when walking near the edge of bluffs, use caution, do not go to the edge, and do not go over the edge.
