UCSB Students Arrested in Home Invasion Burglary Case
Two UC Santa Barbara students and two male suspects from Palm Springs were arrested following a home invasion robbery that occurred in the 6500 block of Madrid Road in Isla Vista back on January 29th.
Breanna Kromer, 18, and Carissa Garcia, 19, both UCSB students, 19-year-old Kenyatta White, and a 17-year-old teen now face robbery and conspiracy charges.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department officials say that its deputies, along with UCPD officers, responded to a report of multiple people fighting while involving the use of a bat. They soon discovered that a home invasion robbery had taken place and located four victims inside their home.
“The suspects allegedly forced their way into the residence and began taking personal property,” said Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Kelly Hoover. “During the robbery, several of the victims fought with the suspects. One male victim received a black eye and another male victim broke his hand during the incident.”
The suspects fled the scene in a getaway car allegedly being driven by Kromer. She was arrested a short time later and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for robbery, conspiracy and resisting arrest.
The next day, authorities arrested Garcia and booked her at Santa Barbara County Jail on robbery and conspiracy charges.
On January 31st, acting on an anonymous tip, authorities located the two Palm Springs suspects at a home in the 900 block of Camino Lindo in Isla Vista. After an hour-long standoff, White and the 17-year-old were taken into custody without incident. White was taken to Santa Barbara County Jail and booked on robbery, conspiracy and resisting arrest charges. The teen was taken to Santa Barbara County Juvenile Hall and booked on robbery, conspiracy and resisting arrest charges.
Kromer posted $50,000 bail and was released. Garcia was released on her own recognizance. White is still in custody and being held on $100,000 bail. The teen was released with pending charges.
