One Person Killed in Vehicle Rollover Near Somis

The California Highway Patrol has released new information on Wednesday’s fatal traffic collision in the 8500 block of Balcom Canyon Road, although the victim’s name has not been released at this time pending notification of next-of-kin.

The unnamed male driver was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra SLE and for unknown reasons allowed the car to veer off the road. The vehicle went down a 200-foot steep embankment.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was the only occupant in that car at the time of the collision.

Balcom Canyon Road was closed until 11 p.m. The CHP is continuing their investigation into the collision.

The California Highway Patrol is reporting one person killed in a single vehicle rollover just north of Somis Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was first reported just after 4:30 p.m. Emergency crews arrived to the 8500 block of Balcom Canyon Road near Bradley Road, and discovered a vehicle approximately 200 feet over the side of the road.

The identity of the deceased is unknown at this time. Only one person was reportedly found inside the vehicle.

The CHP says that Balcom Canyon Road between Bradley and South Mountain Lookout roads will be closed for several hours due to the fatal crash.
