Santa Maria Teen Goes Missing Under Unknown Circumstances
SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Police are asking for the public’s help to locate 16-year-old Ivan Nunez who they say is missing under unknown circumstances.
According to investigators, Ivan left his home in Santa Maria at about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday and has not been heard from or seen since.
The family says that this behavior is out of character for him. They say he usually checks in throughout the day and always call when he is going to be late.
Ivan’s family says they were celebrating his birthday on Saturday, just one day after Christmas. They say out of playful fun someone had smashed cake into his face and that he had gone inside to clean it up. They then say he heard a knock on the door, went to open it, and then disappeared in an instant.
Ivan is described as a young Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and about 150 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes. Ivan was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, dark grey shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
His mother, Gabriella Nunez, says that her son is “her baby” and that she could not imagine a life without him around. His brother, Brian, says he too misses him terribly and hopes that he will soon see his brother walk through the front door.
The family is handing out flyers around the neighborhood, asking anyone who has seen him to say something.
They did try to call Ivan’s cell phone, but, it since has been turned off.
