Santa Barbara Police Department Gets Slapped With Cal/Osha Fines

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, also known as CAL/OSHA, slapped the city of Santa Barbara and its police department with nearly $8,000 in fines.

State investigators released a 17-page citation that outlined seven safety violations at Santa Barbara Police Department’s Headquarters on Figueroa Street.

The violations range from a lack of antibacterial soap in the station’s de-containment area, to unsafe levels of lead in the men’s locker room.

Investigators say they found mold on the walls and even asbestos-containing materials on the fitness room floor.

All violations must be abated and penalties paid by September 30 th unless the city appeals the findings.
