Shark Takes Chunk Out Of Surfer’s Board At Morro Strand State Beach
The waters off Morro Strand State Beach are closed following a shark attack on Saturday.
A woman was surfing around 10 a.m. when a shark took a chunk out of her board.
She was able to swim back to shore unharmed.
Other surfers in the water saw the shark, but were not attacked.
California State Parks official Lisa Remington said a man with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife took a look at the bite mark and estimated the shark was a 6-foot-long juvenile white shark.
The waters at Morro Strand State Beach are closed for 72 hours.
Shark warning signs are posted from the Rock to Cayucos.
